Summary

In the production and execution of prefabricated bridge elements the quality assurance systems may ensure that the work is carried out, so the product achieves the desired and required quality. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine how the quality assurance systems for prefabricated bridge constructions are functioning.
To investigate the matter, this thesis established knowledge about requirements for quality assurance system by looking at standards and literature related to quality assurance. Interviews and surveys were conducted with the industry to map how the quality controls are, what it is and how the industry uses the control to achieve quality. It was necessary to investigate the requirements that are set for the quality controls, how they are being pursued and how deviations are handled. Quality documents and experiences were obtained regarding the quality assurance of prefabricated bridges in production, transportation and assembling.
The results show that quality assurance systems in production are integrated where controls, procedures, instructions and documentation cover most of the work with prefabricated bridge elements. Based on the results, we conclude that the quality assurance systems in production are good. However, the quality assurance systems for transport and assembly may seem somewhat inadequate.
